Any CRA tax wizards out there, help me with this one:

Money needs to go in to hire staff that knows what they are saying and doing. Your brand is taking a hit. Good luck dealing with the bad word of mouth going around about this place, it is one of the hardest things to fix in any company. Actually front line staff are not the problem, they were hired and "trained" I assume they were trained. Whoever is in charge of training and dealing with staff needs to be fired themselves since it reflects in practice that they have zero idea of what they are doing.

How does Life Time reconcile this when their HST is due? What tax amount are they claiming? A percentage of the membership would be double-taxed, since the member will need to claim the taxable company benefit on their personal return.

Lifetime charges the member the full due amount of $120+HST = $135.60, THEN applies the 2 discounts as reimbursements after. After the member has paid the full taxed amount. Typically goods and services are discounted first, then taxed.

On the phone was dealt with rudely. In person was dealt with rudely. A complete joke.

We joined our company as a corporate membership, with 5 people from our office. In written emails, the club confirmed costs, dues, membership types etc. Then when it came to the first due payment everything changed.

I came twice within 60 days as the sales person who signed my parents up said he would "make it work" for us, and the manager (who has extremely poor customer retention skills) stood there repeating the POLICY over and over. I had last been there Nov 19, with visits in both October and September. She stood there spewing the policy even though it was clear that sales people are telling people that they can disregard it, with proof right in front of her face. Extremely poor management and I'll be encouraging my parents to take their $200 a month elsewhere.

I'm cancelling my membership today. I've only been a member for 3 months.

This is the worst managed gym I have ever been to. Sales people tell people whatever they want to hear to get you to sign up, then don't follow through. Power trips galore. Different policies and rules depending on who is working that day. When management gets involved, they act like there are all these important strict rules, which is a joke as sales people literally just do whatever they want as long as they make the sale. They overprice everything ($30 for a guest pass to a gym in AJAX lol), lie and there are literally children screaming and running around everywhere. Combining the sleaziness of the fitness industry with an elitist snotty attitude as if working for a corporate chain gym in the suburbs is some badge of honour. Take your $100-$200 a month and go somewhere where they are honest, respectful and stick to a policy, and that isn't a glorified GoodLife for three times the price.

Really nice gym, high end facility with the latest equipment. Gym staff are snobby. Change rooms are really nice with all the amenities hot tub sauna clean too. Haven't tried their classes. What really put me off is the staff at the spa I prepaid for a package of 4 facials, almost 500+$ I was told that they are 45 Min sessions but when I got them done 15 Min and I was done ....Felt like a rip off plus they don't call you for reminders

Life Time offers a corporate discount in combination with your company providing a taxable benefit kick in.

***Owners response is great as they clearly still don't understand the problem. If there is a policy, the policy should be enforced 100% of the time, and not left up to the discretion of sales people who apparently have power to change the policy when they need to make a sale. No different than how it was at Extreme Fitness. What an embarrassing industry.

(but the gym is gorgeous, I suppose to try to make you forget about misconstruing their membership contracts/dues - even if you have it in writing).

I am visiting, used the gym for a week. I love the equipments, the sauna and the steam room. I had no issues with staff. It’s amazing when it’s not busy. If I stay in Ajax I’ll go for a membership.

I didn't get the service I was expecting for the money I was paying at every visit....And in gym membership fees

Be VERY VERY smart and diligent before joining. Do not let them make you click-sign your contract on their computer screen. Get it printed out in full and read it on your own time.

Regardless, there is so much smoke and mirrors with their Membership Sales Associates that they don't return calls, emails, the contract that you sign actually doesn't state what membership or due you have committed to for the term of the membership.
